Ended my #whole30 experiment (thoughts on that another day) 7 days early, in time for holiday festivities!

Closing off 2013 with a mix of old and new experiences - last weekend I had a great time shopping with an old friend (and collecting variations on Christmas trees), followed by a fun day volunteering at farestart in downtown Seattle. I found this awesome painting in the break room, and snapped a photo between marathon sessions of carrot and zucchini chopping.

Christmas has been filled so far with much baking. My favorite has been Joanne Chang’s recipe for lemon curd macarons. Light and fluffy tangy goodness, even better after sitting for a couple of hours, to allow the curd to soften the center of the cookie. Worthy of very minute of effort.
